Dallas the Dog gets a New House

NO, we are not sending Dallas to a different home, we are merely working on building his new house.

Dallas is an outdoor dog and he needs his own place. He weighs about 23# now. He loves running around the back yard and fetching. Thomas is planning on training him to hunt. He went after a squirrel and a groundhog in the last couple days.

The Boss is building Dallas a classical doghouse with the special feature of a hinged roof. That way we can open it up and clean it out and in the winter we can insulate the walls. Don't want our puppy to be uncomfortable. We still need to paint the outside and make it pretty. The roof will get some shingles as well.

Pretty Fancy! Thanks darling for an excellent job!

We'll show you some pix when it is finished.

Dallas Adventures

Dallas has discovered the neighbor's dogs. He loves going over there and running with them. They are big dogs and no longer puppies. They are good for him as they won't let him be the boss. They make him submit. This does carry over to his training at home. This morning when I looked out the window, he had digged a hole under the fence and was playing with his doggy buddies. When we called him to come home he tried and tried to come, but the board that so easily allowed him out didn't move the same amount to let him come back. Finally, the neighbor kindly came out and lifted him over the fence.

Dallas is very good about sitting and has recently learned to fetch more consistently. He will go get the ball and bring it directly back to you. He used to try and run off. He has pretty much stopped the puppy nipping thing. He has grown a lot. He weighs almost 20 pounds now. He is now about 14 weeks old. He is a very bright pup.

Dallas has learned to walk on a leash. He is still needing some work in this department, but it's coming. He was very glad to see us come home after being away for a week.

He is thriving on his BARF diet. His coat absolutely shines. His eyes are bright and his ears are clear. We are noticing that his coat, especially on his head is turning brownish. No- it is not the cocoa powder residue. I think that it must be his hound roots showing through.

Dallas the Dog

Introducing the newest member of ourHousehold: Dallas the Dog. He is 10 weeks old now and we have had him for 2 weeks. He is a black lab/hound mix. He was a rescue puppy. He trots around the back yard in a hound fashion - nose 2-3 inches off the ground.
Dallas is quickly becoming obedient. He will 'come', 'sit'. and 'stay'. He is still working on learning how to act on a leash. He has learned that sitting is the quickest way to get his food presented, along with a tilted head and sorrowful eyes. He doesn't bark, but has been known to howl to let us know he wasn't happy or if he hears someone playing the violin nearby. Our puppy is gaining and growing rapidly. He is gaining about 2 pounds a week.

Dallas is Michelle's dog. She is his mistress and he knows it. She feeds him and cleans up his messes. He will climb over obstacles to come when she calls, however he won't yet leave his food to 'come'.

Dallas is alert and intelligent. He has a calm demeanor but is still playful. He enjoys running around the backyard with the children. He does stay away from the "Mud Chef" though when she is cooking. His dog house is under construction. We are enjoying our outside dog.

"For since the creation of the world...."

We have never had any pets except for a few fish until the last couple months.

Michelle and Thomas have started keeping creatures from the rodent family. Their goal: to raise and sell the fur.

I have a goldfish, that I didn't want, but won in a drawing I didn't know I entered.

Just today Paul and Michelle caught a couple of baby rabbits.

Last, but not least, Michelle is looking for a dog. When this dog is found it will be the first one the Mangos have ever owned.

Paul and I are diligently working on Biology. This last week we have been studying ecosystems. It is absolutely amazing how God has designed all of His creation to work together. And we only scratched the surface by learning about the water, oxygen, and carbon cycles.

Finally, the most wonderful thing of all is this: "the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world."

Hallelujah!
